I traveled back to my apartment earlier this week and the change in work schedule threw me off, alas. Anyway, I had fun comment spamming everyone! It really felt like I had to returned to the old LJ days of going on a vacation and then spending an entire night replying to 50 comments and catching up on my return, so nostalgic! Here's my round up for the last couple of days~
It's also past midnight here, so I will use this as an opportunity to get ahead 😌
Day 8: A song you like to show non-fans
Day 8 was on 8/8, Eito Day! This is my excuse for picking an Eito song for the seventh (?) time lolol
My pick for this is Fight for the Eight, from the FIGHT album. I could only find a video with the MV + making of stitched together, so don't be alarmed by the length! Also, as a warning, the MV is not super SFW. It's pretty fucky and a big departure from all their MVs until his point.
This is more of a comment on my attention span than anything, but lately I don't have the focus to sit down and listen to an entire album from start to finish. But I do like listening to stuff when I'm out running errands because I usually walk everywhere and it's good background music. I realized old Eito albums are fine to listen to because it's just muscle memory, I don't have to force my brain to process anything. So lately, I've just been working my way through their back catalogue!
I listened to FIGHT after a very long time recently and the lyrics to Fight for the Eight made me stop mid-step:

I went back and re-listened from the beginning and ah, it starts off so strong too:

ただ光が見たかったんだ肩を並べてな
Hey brother, if you look back, (you’ll see) we’ve come so far

This a super off the cuff translation, but I think it gets the point across. imo Fight for the Eight is enjoyable even without knowing the lyrics - it's a fight song at its heart and sounds like it should be a sports anime theme song! The album packaging, the FIGHT tour and all the merch were all sports themed - my FIGHT baseball jersey is my favourite piece of fandom clothing! So I think this song would appeal to people who like sports or, like me, like sports anime 😂
Day 9: A song you don't like anymore
Hmm this was tough, but maybe True Heart by T&T. It's not that I hate it, it just... makes me tired now XD
So, T&T debuted with an album, right? True Heart was the very first track on that album, and I guess you could say it's their first PV. Back in the day, I listened to most things very happily, but my tastes have definitely changed now. I'll listen to True Heart if it plays at the mall or something, but I skip it when it plays on Apple Music or whatever. Soz, it's just boring now!! Imai-san's voice is still lost at sea waiting to be found and Takki is in Peak Idol Mode(tm) which is always extremely boring to me. There's also AN ENGLISH VERSION, all I do is suffer.
I could be listening to Journey Journey or Love Spiral instead!!

Okay... (throws dart) let's go with Ae. I want them to cover Eito's (the crowd boos!) 宇宙に行ったライソン, or The Lion That Went to Space.
On the face of it, Uchuu ni Itta Lion is a silly song about a circus lion that fled its cage and flew into outer space. But it's another of those Eito songs that wraps up its big feelings in silly metaphors and Subaru's strength as a vocalist who really feels everything he sings. Ryo is also really good in this, in the bridge. Yasu's part right after... ah, my perfect band ;_;
The link above has a full translation of the lyrics if you want to read it, but imo it's another one of those songs that is impactful regardless of Japanese comprehension ability. The story of the magical lion befriending a lonely boy and them traveling to a brighter future together... everything about this song makes me feel a kind of way. For about ten years, my Twitter username was tooku_e, in reference to this song and the feeling of I can go further, this isn't the end, there's a bright future waiting for me. I love this song so much forever.
I think Ae would do an incredible job of covering this song for so many reasons! They are so strong as a band, so this is a challenge they can definitely handle. Like Subaru, Seiya can pour his entire heart into the lyrics. Imagine Richa doing Ryo’s solo in the bridge? And Sano-chan taking over Yasu’s part?
They would be so good!!! I’m mad it hasn’t happened yet!

All I do is talk about my favs' songs being covered by other people so! For Day 12, I'm going to go with V6's Honey Beat! An old Eighter friend sent me this as a fight song to listen to when I was preparing for my high school graduation exams and it has remained a favourite ever since <3
It's a very cheerful song with some cute boys who just want to make you shining smile!! How could you not love that! I think Naniwachan in particular would be super cute covering this. Imagine the smiliest Hassun in the world cheering, "笑って！笑って！笑っ〜て！" (Laugh! Laugh! Laaaaugh!)
Gosh, that was long! But now I'm safe until tomorrow 😂
